Best Friends Day Care, LLC. Latchkey Program
Overview of the Latchkey Program
Since 1988, Best Friends Day Care, LLC., has operated the West Shore School District latchkey Program.
BFDC's West Shore School District Latchkey Program currently operates programs at eight of the district's 9 elementary schools. These programs provide coverage for all 9 schools.
Each latchkey program is licensed with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS).
Programs currently run from 6:30 - 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 - 6 p.m. BFDC also offers programs on days that school is closed, and covers early dismissals and as well as late openings.
Our goal at the latchkey programs is to keep your children safe and happy. A variety of activities are encouraged. A sampling of possible activities are as follows:
Some children like to sit with their peers and interact in that manner. Some children enjoy self-play. We strive to make the program enjoyable for all the children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade.
Latchkey supervisors
Latchkey supervisors must meet the Department of Human Services regulations. They are trained in CPR, first aid, fire safety, and have all required clearances through the FBI, State Police, Child Abuse, and National Sex Offender Registry. Latchkey supervisors have had at least two year's experience working with children. Latchkey supervisors must complete twelve hours of continuing education each year.
